Finally going out with a bang with Imaginary Authors Mosaic as my last first impressions review of Imaginary Authors fragrances! I’m glad I saved Mosaic to the last since I love it so much. It’s a nice fresh scent perfect for summer which has started my little obsession with the petigrain note in fragrances.
Mosaic is a woody chypre fragrance with a dominant petitgrain note along with bergamot, cedar, limestone and artesian well. So it’s got a very nice, pleasing cooling effect, very relaxing like a spa experience. Those of you that love the spa effect or a spa treatment then you should get your hands on this. It’s so good I got a full bottle of Mosaic, my second bottle from Imaginary Authors. Imaginary Authors Mosaic is highly recommended!! 🙂
Histoires De Parfums Moulin Rouge Fragrance Review
I love everything about Moulin Rouge and I enjoy wearing this powdery, fresh fragrance. Days that I want something simple I grab for Moulin Rouge from Histoires De Parfums. I know that some men might find Moulin Rouge a bit challenging to wear as it does come off feminine but once you get past that you might enjoy it. Just think of the powdery qualities of Dior Homme Intense? Histoires de Parfums Moulin Rouge has the same dominant iris note that’s in Dior Homme Intense but they both go into different directions.
Histoires de Parfums Moulin Rouge 1189 captures the Moulin Rouge in a bottle. Just give it a sniff you’ll see what I mean!
Wondering which deodorants to use when you are wearing fragrances so they don’t clash? Are you also concerned about the safety of some of the deodorants that you might be using? This is a video I decided to put together after a subscriber of mine sent me an email asking me this question.
I want to make sure my deodorants do not clash with my fragrances and I’m also concerned about the safety of some of the deodorants out there. Watch this video to find out what I do. And what do you when it comes to deodorants?
I’ve known about Serge Lutens for a while now, but I discovered Chergui a little late, and boy was I missing out, because this thing is an amazing, amazing, fragrance. The category is the gourmand fragrances, sweet and edible notes and it’s one of the most amazing fragrances that I have ever smelled; it smells so good that you almost want to eat it up, it’s that great. Chergui was released in 2005; it’s from the House of Serge Lutens, who’s got multiple, different fragrances, loads of’em, and they all have their own personalities He’s got several gourmand type fragrances and this is one of my favorites. So let’s open this up. Basically, it’s a simple bottle, beautiful design, logo with the S and the L in the front right here, of course, you’ve got the name right here, Chergui right there, I’ve got a serial number on the back here, and some basic information about the ingredients right here. When you open it up, I’ve already opened it up, it’s cellophane wrapped, but I decided to leave it closed for this, you basically get your little sprayer like this, and the bottle is like this. So you can see that I’ve used it up a little bit. But it’s a beautiful color fragrance, very thin bottle, it’s got a beautiful little top you can twist off, then on the bottom here, if you can see it, which I can’t see it, so you will probably not see it either, you’ve got the weight and little more information about the fragrance and all that good stuff. This is 1.6 fl oz, 50 milliliters, and the majority of Serge Lutens fragrances are this size. There’s some that are different bottles and different sizes. But as you can see, it’s very similar in the front of the bottle; you’ve got the similar design here, Serge Lutens Chergui and then the logo here. Although this is a newer logo, the older bottles had more of a Shiseido logo, since Serge Lutens was with Shiseido, but this is the recent. I’ve also read online that the color of the fragrance, the juices are different from what it used to be now.
So let’s go over some of the notes in Serge Lutens Chergui. First of all, it was released in 2005, and the nose behind it is Christopher Sheldrake, and I’ve done some research with Serge Lutens’ fragrances and it seems Christopher Sheldrake is the nose behind most of them if not all of them. So the main note that you get when you spray Chergui is tobacco, it’s like, the first thing you smell. But it’s not a dirty tobacco leaf; it’s a very sweet tobacco leaf, because immediately after you get the tobacco leaf, you get the honey, that’s the second note, it’s honey, it’s sweet, it’s a really really sweet fragrance. So if you’re turned off by sweet fragrances, then Chergui is not for you; it’s just a sweet beautiful fragrance. It’s almost like a holiday fragrance, it’s perfect for holiday celebrations: baking in the house kind of smells is what I smell when I get this. Then we have iris as another note; and then, another one of my favorite notes, it’s sandalwood. I love sandalwood, and I get the sandalwood after the dry down, I don’t get it right off the bat. Then finally we have amber, musk, incense, which I also love, I love incense, but I don’t get the incense as strong or as powerful as I get the tobacco, and the tobacco leaf is basically, like I said, very sweet tobacco leaf. And then to finally, to finish off the notes, we have rose, which is also the sweet note I get, and then hay. So that pretty much sums up the notes in Serge Lutens Chergui. I absolutely love the name Chergui, it’s C-h-e-r-g-u-i, it’s such a beautiful name, I don’t know what it means, I wish I did my research at first and figured it out, but if any of you know, please don’t hesitate to put a comment on the video. Alright, so let’s spray some and see what it’s all about. Maybe three.
Wow. See, when I smell this, I get the tobacco, and then all of a sudden, it goes to honey, but I get the honey mixed with some spices. So what I’m getting first is like a very spicy, caramelly, maybe molasses-y kind of holiday cake. Maybe fruitcake, something like that, it just is a beautiful fragrance. So wow. It’s amazing. The juice is a little on the stickier side, not like your typical fragrances when you spray it, it slides, this is kind of, when I’m rubbing my wrists together, it kind of scrapes a little. It’s a different kind of juice. This is my very first kind of Serge Lutens fragrance and I’m happy to be dedicating it to my favorite Serge Lutens, although when I was in Europe last year, I go every December, and I was in a department store in Germany, and they had a whole huge display of Serge Lutens, and I was still pretty new with the fragrance at the time. I was smelling a lot of them, and they definitely have some really amazing fragrances. They do have a ginger one that’s also very gourmand, very tasty smell, it’s like you almost want to put it in your mouth, it smells that good. It just is one of those fragrances that you just want to eat it up. Not as good as the Chergui, but almost. There’s also a La Nuit, I don’t know remember the exact name, that’s another one of the better fragrances that I’ve smelled from Serge Lutens. So I’m smelling this again, the dry down, getting a little stronger tobacco, not as sweet. And then, it’s tobacco with a little honey and sandalwood along with some rose, is what I’m picking up here. So it’s amazing. It’s such a wonderful fragrance, it’s like you wanna just wear it all over. As far as the last, let’s see, I think I can get about 6 hours pretty good on myself when I put it on, I put like three or four sprays. Maybe you can carry it to seven if you spray it on your clothing, maybe sweater, shirt, it’s definitely going to stay with you longer. It’s not a powerful scent like Angel Men, it’s not one of those gourmand fragrances that’s going to totally cause a stir up in the room if someone is really .. hates fragrances, it’s not one of those fragrances. Even though I’m a huge fan of Angel, I absolutely love it, it’s one that turns off a lot of people, I don’t get why. This is more happier, it’s like sunshine, but cold sunshine. Cold sunshine with, walking by a house or a restaurant or a bakery where they’re baking baked goods – that’s what I get from Chergui, whereas, Angel Men is more of darkness, dark chocolate, chocolate milk, maybe with a little dirt, that’s what I get.
So I’m a huge fan of gourmand fragrances, and as you can see, I have a couple here as well, the Bond No. 9, New Harlem, is another one of my favorite fragrances in the gourmand line of fragrances – coffee – now, I’m a huge fan, I can’t get enough of it. Pure Malt – this is another one of my favorite fragrances. I can’t get enough of it. It’s like a rum and coke, whiskey and coke, it’s that yummy. And then A Taste of Fragrance, another one of Thierry Mugler’s. This one’s not as strong, but I love the initial spray, it lasts 3 to 4 hours, perhaps maybe 5, but not as strong as the other ones.
So Serge Lutens Chergui, if you haven’t really discovered Chergui or don’t even know anything about Serge Lutens, definitely try it out. It’s a niche line of fragrances, not a brand, so most people are not going to know about it; most stores will not carry it, here in San Francisco, I believe Barney’s carries it, Saks and Neiman does not carry it, Bloomingdales does not carry it either. So if you wanna order some Chergui, definitely click the link at the bottom of our video, it’ll take you right to where you can order it, and these will cost you about $100 a bottle, they’re about 90 in Europe, so it’s a pretty good deal here, with the conversion rate. So that’s all I can say about Chergui from Serge Lutens. If you ever make it to Paris, definitely go to Serge Lutens store. It is a beautiful beautiful store, I’ve seen videos and footage and photos, but unfortunately did not end up going there the last time I was in Paris, but I’m hoping I can do it soon.
Anyway, this is Serge Lutens Chergui again, it’s one of my favorite favorite fragrances: yummy, good stuff, eat it, edible, tasty, lick it up, that’s all I get from this fragrance, it’s so much fun. Perfect, perfect for wintertime, the fall time. Warm weather, I’m sorry, warm clothing, and cold outside, is when this’ll be perfect for you. I can get away with wearing this in the summer time, San Francisco summers are pretty cool, but I still would not put a lot of it on me, I’d put a couple of sprays instead of three or four, but as I say with all my videos, I love wearing these colognes and fragrances anytime of the year, I just kind of customize it to the situation or the weather. Again, if you want to try some, click the link at the bottom of the video, it’s just right down there, and it’ll take you to the website and you can click there to purchase your own Chergui. Thanks so much for watching, give me a thumbs up please, and add any comments and let me know if you want me to do any reviews of any fragrances that you might want to see. Thanks again, this is Sebastian with manlovescologne.com, catch you with another video soon. Have a good one, goodbye.
Hey everyone, this is Sebastian with Manlovescologne.com. Hey, I’m back with another great fragrance review. This time, it’s a brand that I’m not too much familiar with, but it’s Lalique. We have here from Lalique, it’s Encre Noir. Wonderful, wonderful fragrance that I discovered recently, and I absolutely love this thing. It’s a beautiful, beautiful, representation as far as packaging goes, and really, Lalique is not really a fragrance specialist, they’re more into.. I don’t even know what they do actually; they do glassware, something similar. I’m sorry I don’t have my research on my fragrances that much but Lalique, I’m not that familiar with. But I absolutely love this fragrance, so I had to do a video about it. So anyway, Encre Noir Lalique was introduced in 2006, and this is an amazing bottle – box for the bottle. So here we go, let’s see how this thing looks. So when you open it up, you get a little booklet with information about some of their products, maybe some of their other colognes and all that good stuff. And then finally, the bottle of cologne is right over here. It’s a beautiful, very simple design. You’ve got this wonderful looking cap that’s nice and tight on here, and it’s definitely woody – a wood kind of design, so what you’re going to expect from this cologne is, you’re going to get lots of woody notes.
So Encre Noir by Lalique eau du toilette, this one is a 3.3 fl oz, 100 milliliter eau du toilette by Lalique. So Encre Noir is one of those dark, smoky, wet, kinds of fragrances. It’s very sexy in a way, kind of like a dark noir, kind of like a noir film obviously with the name – that’s what you get pretty much with it. This fragrance is not too many notes – the notes we have in Encre Noire are cypress – love cypress, love cedar, I love cypress-, then you also have the middle notes of vetiver; vetiver is one of my my all-time favorite fragrances; I’ve worn Guerlain’s Vetiver many times. Now I’m wearing Tom Ford’s Vetiver, Gray Vetiver, it’s wonderful. The base notes for this Encre Noir are musk and cashmere wood, so basically that’s pretty much in it. It’s very, what do you call it, it’s not too heavy with the notes, but it’s a very beautiful fragrance. It’s one of my favorite discoveries, and I’m so happy to have found it, and the cool thing about Encre Noir is, it’s not too expensive, it’s a definite value. So Lalique, let’s spray some.
Three sprays, immediately, when I spray Lalique Encre Noir,I get the cypress. As soon as it dries down, I get the vetiver. I mean, I get a combination of the vetiver and the cypress, but the more it dries down, the more vetiver I get. And then finally, the drier it gets, I’ll be getting the musk and the cashmere wood. Now, this fragrance is perfect for evening wear. It’s one of those ones where you’re getting all dressed up, not just “dressed up”, but all dressed up. If you’re going out to, like, a ball, or a really really fancy dinner, this is the fragrance to wear. Encre Noir is very sexy: dark, fragrant, mysterious, very… I don’t know, noir film is what I get when I smell this and it’s an amazing fragrance. It’s very smoky though, it smells almost like burn, burning wood, fire and fireplace, or in Europe, when I travel in the winter time, there are areas in the country where they’re burning wood – it’s wet, and it’s mossy, and just piles of dead wood – that’s the scent I get from smelling Encre Noir. It’s an amazing scent. This fragrance, it’s kind of like a niche quality kind of a fragrance. It’s not even like.. I hadn’t heard of – I mean, I had heard of Lalique but I did not know they were making fragrances, so that’s what’s cool about Lalique’s Encre Noir. I almost also associate it with another of my favorite fragrances, Comme des Garcon’s Avignon Incense. This one, even though it’s got frankincense in it, it’s got a very burned kind of fragrance. So I kind of put it in the line of, the niche of, kind of fragrance, because it’s very unique – I have never smelled something like this from a designer or a brand type of company that’s producing fragrances. It’s a total unique fragrance.
So last, how long does this last? I’d say Encre Noir lasts probably anywhere from 6 to 8 hours; but that depends on how many sprays. If you’re doing one spray, I think you’re gonna get less, but if you do like three or four, which is what I would do, I would get six to eight hours, and by the time the eighth hour comes around, I think it’s going to be very very faint. Right now, I’m getting the burning: the burned wood, the burned leaves, but behind all of that I get the vetiver, and then cypress mixed in really pleasantly.
So that’s Encre Noir, guys, check it out. If you don’t know anything about Lalique’s Encre Noir, you need to check it out. If you’re a fragrance buff, you need to have this in your collection, because it is one of the most – the least expensive top quality fragrances I have ever found. I paid about $45 dollars for this, it’s a wonderful fragrance, I’ll probably go through it pretty fast, and since it’s so cheap, I’ll be picking up another one. With the holidays around the corner, these are awesome presents because your contacts- your family, your friends, are not even gonna know what Lalique’s Encre Noir is, and you’re gonna give them this big beautiful box, and they’re gonna be like, “Wow, what is this stuff?”. And if at all, they have a great understanding of fragrances, they’re gonna go crazy for this because it’s wonderful. So there you have it, Encre Noir by Lalique. Thanks so much for watching, give us a thumbs up, put up any comments if you want us to do any reviews for any fragrances, let me know. I’m Sebastian; click the link below for www.manlovescologne.com . You will have a link to purchase this online for a really low price. It’s wonderful, you have to have it in your collection and I’m so glad I found – stumbled onto it. One thing I forgot to mention, Encre Noir was launched in 2006. I don’t know where I was, but I had not heard about until last year. But thanks so much for watching, give us a thumbs up and stay tuned for another video very soon. Have a good one, goodbye!
